Dave Dowell, PhD

David Dowell has two degrees in history and two in library science, as well as 35 years of experience as a librarian and 4 years as a special investigative officer in the USAF. He taught courses in U.S. genealogy research, European genealogy research and Ethics in the Information Age. He has chaired both the Ethics and Genealogy Committees of the American Library Association. As a member of the ISOGG, NGS, NEHGS, SCGS & MTGS, he coordinates 2 surname yDNA projects and a yDNA haplogroup project.

He has spent the last thirty years researching his own family and helping others make history a part of their story. Workshops

Genealogy is the second most popular hobby in our country. Regardless of our current levels, we all began learning at some point and understand that our learning must continue. In fact, the more we learn, the more we understand what we don't know.  Conferences and conventions have fun one-hour classes that are very informative, but the key to learning is in workshops. They provide a hands-on approach that accelerates learning due to the extended time of a TWO-HOUR session!

Daniel Earl

Daniel Earl got his start in family history at age 10 when his father took him to the grave of his great-grandfather; that sparked a lifetime of interest in family history. He has spent the last 25 years researching his own family history and helping others make history a part of their story.

Alice M Fairhurst

Alice M. Fairhurst, MS is President of the Southern California Genealogical Society and serves as Jamboree co-chair. From 2006 to 2015 she managed the International Society of Genetic Genealogy (ISOGG) Y-DNA Haplotree tree (www.isogg.org/tree) cited in many academic papers. Prior to retirement from JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory), she taught at Cal Poly Pomona and Glendale Community College. An avid genealogist, she first started recording her family stories when in grammar school and has traced her Scottish, Irish, and French roots back to the old country.

Colleen Greene, MLIS

Colleen Greene, MLIS, is a librarian, web developer, and educator. She is the marketing librarian for California State University, Fullerton, and teaches an online graduate-level genealogical methodology course for San Jose State University. Greene's teaching focuses on methodology; Mexican, Mexican-American, and Hispanic research; emerging technologies; and society marketing and communications.

Jean Wilcox Hibben, PhD

Circlemending

Retired college professor and former Board-Certified genealogist, Jean Wilcox Hibben has a Master's in speech communication and a PhD in folklore. A national speaker and writer, Jean is the staff trainer for the Corona Family History Center and President of both the Corona Gen Soc and the So Calif Chapter of APG. Leah Larkin earned a PhD from The University of Texas in Austin for research using DNA to study species relationships. Adapting that scientific skill set to genetic genealogy has become a passion. She focuses on general education in the field, new methods for unknown parentage searches and—as a Louisiana Cajun—best practices for working with endogamous groups. Larkin has been the editor of the Journal of Genetic Genealogy since 2016 and blogs at theDNAgeek.com.

Ms. Walton-Raji lives in Maryland, where she continues to research and write.
