Barbara Randall

A native of central New York, Barbara discovered genealogy at Jamboree. Barbara is active in SCGS as the co- chair of the Jamboree Extension Series Webinars, facilitator of the Legacy Family Tree User group, librarian and Jamboree Committee member. She is also active in APG, NGS, Genealogical Speakers Guild, and the British Isles Family History Society-USA. Barbara presents workshops on a variety of genealogy topics. She is a DAR volunteer genealogist/consultant and writer.

Tim Janzen is a medical doctor in Portland, Oregon. For the past 12 years he has been using DNA analysis to help complement traditional genealogical research. Glenn Penner and he are the co-administrators of the Mennonite DNA project at www.mennonitedna.com. Tim has a strong interest in many areas of genetic genealogy, particularly in regards to phasing and autosomal DNA analysis. Dr. Janzen speaks frequently on this topic.

Jamboree 2016 Speaker Spotlight: Sheila Benedict

Sheila Benedict is a graduate of California State University, San Bernardino with a BA, Political Science. She has post-graduate course work in history and writing, completed several years of French and Spanish and a certificate in archival studies. Her genealogical education includes courses completed at the Forensic Genealogy Institute, Institute of Genealogical and Historical Research, National Genealogical Society, National Institute on Genealogical Research, and a genealogical proof standards workshop. She is self-employed as a genealogical, historical, and forensic genealogist. She taught beginning and intermediate genealogy and oral history techniques for four years at a local community college.

Jamboree 2015 - Meet the Speaker: Sheila Benedict

Sheila is currently the part-time archivist at Old Mission Santa Inés and is self-employed as a forensic and family genealogist. Sheila was awarded the Pearl Chase Historic Preservation and Conservation Award from the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation.  Sheila wrote the California booklet for the National Genealogical Society's "Research in the States" series.  A recent forensic genealogy article was published in the Council for the Advancement of Forensic Genealogy Newsletter.

She is a graduate, CSUSB, with a BA in Political Science with post courses in history, social sciences, and paralegal studies. Genealogical courses completed include the Forensic Genealogy Institute, Institute of Genealogical and Historical Research, National Institute of Genealogical Research, National Genealogical Society, and a workshop on Mastering Genealogical Proof.
