Jamboree's 50th Birthday Bash is excited to offer a full conference track tailored for researching and developing your knowledge and skills using DNA. These Jamboree lectures combine genetics and genealogy, providing everyone with the opportunity to learn something new, regardless of their level. The speakers will include Jim Brewster, Diahan Southard, Richard Weiss, Brad Larkin, Janine Cloud, David Dowell, Drew Smith, David Nicholson, Alice M. Fairhurst, Thomas MacEntee, Daniel Horowitz, and many more. They will present on a variety of specialized topics using DNA to assist researchers in overcome brick walls, trace elusive ancestors, and much more using DNA!

Jim Brewster holds a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology from Northern Arizona University and works for Family Tree DNA as the Group Projects Assistant Manager. He enjoys making genetic testing understandable.

Tony Burroughs, FUGA

Founder and CEO of The Center for Black Genealogy, and author of "Black Roots." He has appeared on PBS, CBS, ABC, BBC, Discovery Channel, History Channel and Who Do You Think You Are? He researched Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Johnson’s family history, consulted on the genealogies of Oprah Winfrey, Smokey Robinson, and Reverend Al Sharpton. He has also consulted for several television programs including: Who Do You Think You Are?; African American Lives; The Real Family of Jesus.

Angie Bush, MS

Angie Bush, MS, is the Region 1 Director for the National Genealogical Society, and a full-time senior genealogist researcher with AncestryProGenealogists in Salt Lake City. Angie has been interested in her genealogy since she was very young. Although she spends much of her time working on recent unknown parentage cases, her favorite type of research involves breaking through decades-old “brick walls” using a combination of traditional records and genetic evidence.

Bruce Buzbee

RootsMagic

Bruce Buzbee is the founder and president of RootsMagic, Inc. and the author of RootsMagic genealogy software. For over 25 years Bruce has been writing genealogy software, having originally written the popular Family Origins program. Bruce has taught thousands of users the ins and outs of RootsMagic, from the basics for beginners to advanced topics for the genealogy professional.

Sherlock Combs Genealogy


Jane Neff Rollins, MSPH is a professional genealogist. Her genealogical education includes ProGen 29, SLIG, and the Forensic Genealogy Institute. She regularly translates Russian-language records and speaks at local, regional, and international genealogy conferences. She is a member of APG, NGS, and the Genealogical Speakers Guild. Jane’s writing has appeared in RootsKey, a genealogy newsletter. Jane is also the author of “Health Care Navigation 101.”

Jamboree 2016 Speaker Spotlight: Jim Brewster

Jim Brewster received a bachelor of arts in Anthropology from Northern Arizona University and has always been interested in the history of the human family, both anthropologically and genealogically. He has been working on his own genealogy for years and volunteers as a Family History consultant at his local Family History Center. Jim has turned his passion for Family History and the human condition into a career with Family Tree DNA, where he is Group Project Liaison.
