No More Spaghetti!!! |
There are three posts in this series: Streaming Video, Mobile App, and Jamboree Website. This post addresses the SCGS Webinars and the SCGS website.
The SCGS Website is not involved
in the live-streaming of sessions from DNA Day
or Jamboree. It is the place to view
archived webinars and some recorded
sessions from prior year Jamborees.
You don't need to be a member of SCGS to view the pay-per-view or live-streamed sessions. The SCGS Website is open and available for everyone to use. It has information about SCGS activities, the society's Family Research Library and people, and it has genealogical information about Southern California.
Members-only Section
Only one area of the website is limited to SCGS members as a benefit of membership. Those who have joined the Society can go remotely access World Vital Records and MyHeritage Library Edition, which can be used by SCGS members at no charge. Another key section of the members-only area is the webinar archive.
In that area are stored archived versions of the twice-monthly webinars of the Jamboree Extension Program. These webinars are online classes that are held twice per month, all year round. While members of the general public can view each initial (live) webcast, SCGS members have the flexibility of watching the archived webinars at their convenience. Over 100 webinars, including some of the streamed sessions from Jamborees from 2012-2014, are available in the archive and can be viewed at any time, 24/7, 365.
Member Log-In
The Members Log-In page is the door to the members-only treasures. It's also the area where you request a new password. You do not need to log in to the SCGS website in order to view the DNA Day or Jamboree 2015 live streamed session.
