Jamboree 2016 Speaker Spotlight: Schelly Talalay Dardashti

Journalist, genealogist, and speaker, Schelly Talalay Dardashti has traced her family across Spain, Belarus, Russia, Lithuania and Iran for some 30 years. MyHeritage’s US Genealogy Advisor, former Jerusalem Post genealogy columnist and pioneer Jewish geneablogger, she created “Tracing the Tribe – Jewish Genealogy on Facebook." Her articles are in Family Tree Magazine, Avotaynu, NGS Quarterly, The Forward, Hadassah and JTA, and she co-administers the IberianAshkenaz DNA Project at FTDNA.

Jamboree 2016 Speaker Spotlight: Ted Gostin

Ted Gostin has been a full-time professional genealogist since 1994. He lectures widely on Jewish genealogy, Southern California resources, and immigration & naturalization records. He is the author of Southern California Vital Records: Volume 1, Los Angeles County 1850-1859.  He was featured on the Larry Lamb episode of the original BBC version of the popular television show Who Do You Think You Are? He owns both Gostin Research Associates and Generations Press and is a member of APG.

Jamboree 2016: Researching German and Eastern European Roots

This year we are excited to offer a full track of 14 sessions tailored for German and Eastern European Research at the Genealogy Jamboree and the Genetic Genealogy Conferences.

Speakers such as Lisa A. Alzo, M.F.A., James M. Baker, PhD, CG, James M. Beidler, Max Blankfeld, Schelly Talalay Dardashti, Ted Gostin, Fritz Juengling, Ph.D., AG , Dr. Michael Lacopo, Rev. David McDonald, DMin, CG, and Jane Neff Rollins will be presenting a wide array of specialized topics designed to assist researchers to overcome brick walls, trace elusive ancestors, and much more.

In addition to the sessions, genealogical societies, exhibitors, and commercial data vendors with a variety of expertise, products and services will be on hand in the exhibit hall. The exhibit hall is free throughout the weekend.

Jamboree offers over 140 other sessions with more than 70 outstanding international, national, and local speakers.  JamboFREE Friday morning offers classes including Librarian's Boot Camp, Why and How to Become a Professional Genealogist, Use Social Media to Benefit Your Society and Your Research, Begining Genealogy, as well as Genealogy and DNA roundtables.

One-on-One research assistance provided by members of the Southern California Chapter, Association of Professional Genealogists, is available throughout the weekend.
