Dan Poffenberger, AG®, is the Guest Help Team Manager and a British Research Specialist for the Family History Library. He is accredited by ICAPGen in English research. He received a BA degree from BYU and has done professional research for 30 years. Dan has presented at numerous conferences nationally and internationally. He and his wife Keirstin have been married for 30 years and they have 5 children and 4 grandchildren.

Mike Provard works at FamilySearch and RootsTech as an Events Manager. He has presented at national genealogical conferences for more than 15 years.

Barbara Randall 
A native of central New York, Barbara discovered genealogy at Jamboree. Barbara is active in SCGS as the co- chair of the Jamboree Extension Series Webinars, facilitator of the Legacy Family Tree User group, librarian and Jamboree Committee member. She is also active in APG, NGS, Genealogical Speakers Guild, and the British Isles Family History Society-USA. Barbara presents workshops on a variety of genealogy topics. She is a DAR volunteer genealogist/consultant and writer.

Part II

Genealogy workshops are offered Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and are designed to be intensive, hands-on, and interactive small group experiences. These separate-fee events are offered as a benefit to Conference attendees. To register for a Genealogy workshop, you must be registered for at least one day of the Genealogy Jamboree or for the Genetic Genealogy Conference. The Thursday workshops run concurrently with the Genetic Genealogy conference and the Saturday and Sunday workshops run concurrently with some Jamboree classes.

SATURDAY, JUNE 1 - 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Say What? Old English Handwriting Workshop

This is a hands-on workshop on reading English Secretary Hand which generally covers English records from 1500-1650. It will cover the alphabet including unique characteristics of some letters, abbreviations, reading aids and provide typical documents for hands-on transcribing, practice and help. Level: Beginner, Intermediate

Discovering Asian American Roots Through Partnerships and Collaborations

Interested in learning about how to research Asian American genealogy? Learn from founding members of the Chinese Family History Group of So. California and the Nikkei Genealogical Society. These groups were the first-ever genealogical societies for Asian Americans. They partnered with such organizations as SCGS, CGS, JANM, NARA, and each other in support of their members' research and education. Panelists are: Melinda Yamane Crawford (moderator), Marisa Louie Lee, Barbara Lu-Baltazar, Linda Harms Okazaki, and Bo-Gay Salvador. Level: Beginner, Intermediate
