Latin, the traditional language of the Catholic Church, isn’t difficult to decipher. Examples of how to do this will employ records written before the early 1900s from churches in Germany and America.

National speaker and writer Jean Wilcox Hibben, PhD, MA, CG® is known for entertaining and informative presentations, melding her interests in family history and folklore. She serves on a number of boards for genealogy groups, including the Assoc. of Professional Genealogists (So.
