Jamie Lee McManus Mayhew, PLCGS, a frequent Southern California speaker, has been involved with family history for over 25 years. Her specialties are land records, FamilySearch.com, and general genealogy research. She is the current president of the Southern California Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists, past-president and current Board member of the Genealogical Society of North Orange County California, and past-president of the California State Genealogical Alliance.

Land in thirty of our states was surveyed using the Public Land Survey System. How do you determine what land your ancestor owned with a description like the Southwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of Section 12 Township 28N, Range 8 West? In this hands-on workshop you will learn how to read, locate and draw land descriptions and find out how this information can help you learn about your ancestors.
