Instructions from Dr. Bettinger

In order to maximize the use of everyone's time for this workshop I request that
everyone do the following prior to the workshop:

  1. Test yourself and/or a family member at 23andMe, AncestryDNA, or Family Tree DNA.
  2. Create an account at GEDmatch (www.gedmatch.com) and upload at least one raw data file from 23andMe, Family Tree DNA, or AncestryDNA's test to GEDmatch for yourself and any family members (preferably raw data files from AncestryDNA or Family Tree DNA).
  3. Create an account at DNAGedcom (www.dnagedcom.com). If you’ve tested at Family Tree DNA, consider downloading your data to DNAGedcom prior to the workshop (https://www.dnagedcom.com/FamilyTreeDNA/Process.aspx).
  4. Optional: A month to a few weeks prior to the workshop, make at least a $10 donation to GEDmatch so that you are able to be a Tier 1 member of GEDmatch during the workshop.
