We've provided a unique solution for you, hands-on workshops focused solely on DNA testing and analysis that will help you find the answers.

DNA testing and analysis are considered two of the most powerful brick wall-busting tools in the genealogist's toolbox.

Hint: Register early! Seats are limited.

These special workshops are open only to registrants of at least one day of Jamboree, Genetic Genealogy, or Family History Writers Conference. Separate registration fees apply.

DNA01   Comparing Testing Companies and Understanding DNA 
Presented by Emily D. Aulicino, MA
Understand the various DNA Tests and the inheritance of each. Discover the differences among the five major testing companies through various webpages from each company to help you decide what fits your goals.

DNA02   Getting Stated with Genome Mate Pro
Presented by Leah Larkin, PhD
Genome Mate Pro (www.getgmp.com) is a donation-supported, stand-alone computer program for PC, Mac, and Linux that greatly eases autosomal DNA research. This workshop will cover: managing tests for multiple family members; adding gedcoms; importing data from GEDmatch, AncestryDNA, 23andMe, and FTDNA; chromosome mapping; and triangulation and ICW grouping.

Intermediate. Online database savvy and can locate/read deeds, vital records, wills, and church records. Advanced. Very experienced, including early US and foreign records.

DNA03   Visual Phasing Workshop

A hands‐on workshop that guides attendees step‐by‐step through visual phasing, one of the hottest new methods in genetic genealogy.

DNA04   Autosomal DNA Chromosome Mapping and Phasing Workshop 2:00 am - 5:00pm
Presented by Tim P. Janzen, MD
Visual phasing is a powerful chromosome mapping technique in which the DNA results from three or more full siblings are used to determine which DNA segments came from specific grandparents. In this presentation, I will illustrate how to do visual phasing using 23andMe, GEDmatch, and David Pike’s Shared DNA Segments utility.
