Did you know that over half of Jamboree attendees stay overnight at least one night at a hotel? Most
stay at the official conference hotel, the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport.
If you're planning to come to the Southern California Genealogy Jamboree or the Genetic Genealogy:
DNA Day Plus! conference and need a place to stay, you should make your hotel reservations now.
We have seen a large number of room reservations come through already this year. The good news is
that this portends a great Jamboree with lots of fun. The not-so-good news is that we are facing a
challenge.
Here's the deal: The Marriott has set up two blocks of rooms, one at the regular rate of $160 per night
single/double, and a smaller block at the Concierge level of $180 per night single/double.
The tier pricing is locked in by day. If you are going online to make your reservations and that tier is sold
out for any of the dates you’ve chosen, then the whole reservation may show as rooms unavailable. Don’t despair! There may still be rooms available at a different price tier.
If you get a message showing that rooms are unavailable, you will need to call the Marriott directly at
818-843-6000 or 800-840-6450. Don't forget to mention group Genealogical Jamboree 2015 when
making your reservation.
The room blocks close May 13, 2015 or when the rooms are sold out - which could happen in the near
future.
If you are willing to share a room with a fellow genealogist, please register with our roommate matching
service by sending an email to roommate@scgsgenealogy.com. Please include your name, dates of
attendance, and tell us a little about yourself and what type of roommate you would like: male or female;
early riser or night owl; party girl/guy or robe-and-slippers type; sleep with the TV on; snoring is/isn't a
problem. Be sure to include whatever is important to you, and to note any allergies or other
considerations.
