This special free gift to the community is scheduled to occur during the Genetic Genealogy Conference and Family History Writers Conference and is of general interest to genealogists and family historians.
The subject level is beginner and lecturer, Barbara Randall is a native of central New York, Barbara discovered genealogy at Jamboree. Barbara is active in SCGS as the co-chair of the Jamboree Extension Series Webinars, facilitator of the Legacy Family Tree User group, librarian and Jamboree Committee member. She is also active in APG, NGS, Genealogical Speakers Guild, and the British Isles Family History Society-USA. Barbara presents workshops on a variety of genealogy topics. She is a DAR volunteer genealogist/consultant and writer.
If you are attending the Genetic Genealogy conference or the Family History Writers Conference, this workshop will run concurrent with these paid conferences, so please plan accordingly.

Genealogy Basics begin with a few basic tools and strategies. Everyone can learn or improve their skills to trace their family tree and unlock the mysteries of their past. Learn online and offline resources and organizational strategies to increase your success. Genealogy can be easy and rewarding!
Level: Beginner. Just starting to do family history, Intermediate. Online database savvy and can locate/read deeds, vital records, wills, and church records.
Topic: Digital Resources: database tools/strategies; web tools (i.e. Google); general interest, Methodology: evaluating/analyzing information, Record Types: BMD vital records; church; cemeteries; census/substitutes; military; newspapers/obituaries; occupation; slave; tax; wills/probate; land records, Research Strategies: site-specific search strategies.
