Jamboree: JamboFREE Genealogy World

Well, the clock is ticking down to the kickoff of Jamboree. Can you believe that the fun starts exactly three months from today?

There are so many activities involved with Jamboree that we like to roll them out a little at a time. Here is the first of several spotlights of the activities and events of this year's Jamboree.

Let's start with Friday morning, JamboFREE. We never want economic concerns to get in the way of a search for family, so SCGS has committed to providing genealogical education to the community at no cost.  JamboFREE Friday morning events include sessions for librarians, genealogical society leaders, beginners and those with some experience under their belts.

Genealogy World
Time: Two sessions: 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 and 10:45 to 12:00 noon.
Audience: This event is designed for genealogists with some experience and who have interest in a particular geography, ethnicity, technique, record type, or other topic.
Description: Informal round-table discussions will be hosted by someone, not necessarily an expert, but someone who is also interested in that topic. The idea is to share information. Learn from others while you learn from them. Pick up their tips and tricks and share the secrets that have brought you success. Genealogy World serves another purpose, too. It's a great way to meet others and make friends.

To reserve a spot for Genealogy World or to register for Jamboree, just click on the online registration link. It will take you to an admittedly unattractive shopping cart page where you will see two choices - Jamboree SCGS Members and Jamboree SCGS Non-Members. Choose the one that fits you and take it from there.

We will post a list of all the topics as we get closer to Jamboree.  If you are interested in serving as table host, drop a note to jamboree@scgsgenealogy.com. You don't need to be an expert, but it does help if you like to keep others talking!

Thanks to Denise Spurlock, who is organizing Genealogy World this year, and to Jane Van Tour, who is shepherding the amazing group of volunteers who make our event so special.
